I think that the data of IDF and internal variables are moved to
the RAM space from HDD space when you are running the EPlus simulation. So the
running time will be a matter between the CPU and RAM, not HDD I think. Of course, if you have extremely fast storage device, like SSD
or RAID HDD, the generation of output files will be faster than slow devices. However, this phase is only the last step of
simulation, so it will now affect so much on the overall runtime. From: EnergyPlus_Support@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
[mailto:EnergyPlus_Support@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx] On Behalf Of Karen Walkerman Hi, When running EnergyPlus on a laptop how
much does hard drive speed affect execution time? Thanks, Karen __._,_.___ Primary EnergyPlus support is found at: http://energyplus.helpserve.com or send a message to energyplus-support@xxxxxxxx The primary EnergyPlus web site is found at: http://www.energyplus.gov The group web site is: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/EnergyPlus_Support/ Attachments are currently allowed but be mindful that not everyone has a high speed connection. Limit attachments to small files. EnergyPlus Documentation is searchable. Open EPlusMainMenu.pdf under the Documentation link and press the "search" button.
