Suggest you open one of the example files in IDF Editor from C:\EnergyPlusV6-0-0\ExampleFiles   (if you installed EnergyPlus in the default location).  There's a spreadsheet in that same directory that shows what features and objects are being shown (ExampleFiles.xls).

 

You can copy/paste objects (such as schedules) from one IDF file to another in IDF Editor.
