You can set a wider dead band for the un-occupied period.
Heating set point must be lower than the cooling set point, so that they do not overlap. The dead band may be as little as 0.1°F. Otherwice, you can set them to any temperature. If I wanted to turn off the cooling completely, I simply set the cooling set point to 98°F for that zone. If you have water system, you may still need the seasonal control for the plants., so that the water system will be freeze. So do something like set a cooling set point to 74, Heating to 70 for a mean set point of 72 with a 2 degree deadband?
