[EnergyPlus_Support] skylight in canopy - window in a external shading device

Dear Group, I want to model a skylight that is mounted in the canopy jutting out over the porch decking that surrounds my building. I have created the canopy with gaps where the glass would be as a detached shading device. I am thinking as to how best to fill the gaps or holes with "glass". I'm thinking of drawing in the glass panes as detatched shading surfaces and setting the transmission value equal to the SHGC of the skylight assembly. For added accuracy I'm thinking of using the shading:reflections object to use with a glass contruction to use with ..withexternalreflections option in the Building object.

What would you do?
