[EnergyPlus_Support] AFN

Please comment or correct my interpretation of the AFN docs

I am modelling ventilation through an open window. Using AirflowNetwork3zVent.idf example. 

With the Simulation Control set to Multizone Without Distribution, and a VAV HVAC Template Operating, will the AFN calculate the airflow through the window, and leave the HVAC to calculate the required cooling/heating flows ?  

Or is the AFN interfering with the HVAC during system on time ? 

I am getting the temp to set points during occupied hours. 

Its hard to tell, because the example doesnt have a HVAC. 

My model seems to work, but I am getting Sizing: Coil load = zero errors I cant solve.
