Re: [EnergyPlus_Support] Reading the weather file

It looks at the month that is on the data record as well as when you tell it to start the simulation.  (that is, it does not assume the first 31 days are January, etc.)

You will need to set the ShadowCalculation to recalculate every day as well.

Hi,

Does EnergyPlus read the month in the weather file? Or it will take the first 31 lines of data as January, the next 30 lines as February....and so on?

Below is what I have done:

-1st-
I ran a simulation using a one year of real time year data but the data start from Dec2010 to Nov2011. So the weather file starts with December data and end with November data.

-2nd-
Then I cut and paste the Dec2010 data at the end so that the weather file starts from January2011 to November2011 and December2010 at the end like a normal calendar year.

I expected the total energy consumptions from 1st and 2nd would be the same. But the simulation gave me a different results.

Also what I am interested in is monthly cooling eneryg consumption, so I expect the monthly cooling consumption would be:

     - January from 1st would be the same as December from 2nd.
     - February from 1st would be the same as January from 2nd.
     - ....ect.

But the results from 2nd simulation do not show the above 'shift' assumption.

Does anyone know / explain how EnergyPlus use the weather file?

Many thanks.
