Re: [EnergyPlus_Support] Fanger PMV/PPD results

Amruta,

Within the "People" object you can assign a thermal comfort model for your simulation

  People,
    NORTH ZONE People,       !- Name
    NORTH ZONE,              !- Zone or ZoneList Name
    OFFICE OCCUPANCY,        !- Number of People Schedule Name
    people,                  !- Number of People Calculation Method
    4.000000,                !- Number of People
    ,                        !- People per Zone Floor Area {person/m2}
    ,                        !- Zone Floor Area per Person {m2/person}
    0.3000000,               !- Fraction Radiant
    ,                        !- Sensible Heat Fraction
    Activity Sch,            !- Activity Level Schedule Name
    3.82E-8,                 !- Carbon Dioxide Generation Rate {m3/s-W}
    ,                        !- Enable ASHRAE 55 Comfort Warnings
    zoneaveraged,            !- Mean Radiant Temperature Calculation Type
    ,                        !- Surface Name/Angle Factor List Name
    Work Eff Sch,            !- Work Efficiency Schedule Name
    Clothing Sch,            !- Clothing Insulation Schedule Name
    Air Velo Sch,            !- Air Velocity Schedule Name
    FANGER;                  !- Thermal Comfort Model 1 Type

Include the following line to obtain the reportable files from your simulation in a format that you can copy and paste into your input file:

Output:VariableDictionary,IDF;

upon running with the above code in your simulation, you can check the file .rdd which has the relative variables that you can report. Within this list includes the following:

Output:Variable,*,FangerPMV,hourly; !- Zone Average []
Output:Variable,*,FangerPPD,hourly; !- Zone Average []

Place these two lines in your code, along with any other desired input variables, and re-simulate.

The requested output variables willl be accessible through the EP-Launch interface button 'Variables'

Alternatively, you can go to the folder containing the simulation and open up a file 'InputFileName.CSV'

This is a comma separated file that opens in excel containing the hourly report of your data. If you install an .eso viewer (xESO viewer) you can see the variables visually.

Hope this helps,

Jason

Hi all,

I am working on some energy reduction strategies in EnergyPlus. I wanted to do the thermal comfort analysis (Fanger PMV/PPD) of these strategies. Can you please tell me where should I specify the output I am looking for? and after simulating which result file will give me the output data for PMV/PPD?

Please let me know.
Thanks,
Amruta
