Dear Tim, In a new digital controls system , you probably will see a “”coldest zone” control strategy, which adjusts the air handler discharge air temp to as cool as possible while still keeping the “coldest zone” at the proper setpoint. (A similar approach is used in summer to maintain the “warmest zone”.) Turning off the heating coil altogether risks making one or more zones too cold. (as you probably have already figured out.) Using E+ to simulate this will be a challenge, but you might try: · defining and running several “DesignDays” that are crafted to represent different conditions. · You could also make a custom weather file to do the same thing. (This might work better; I think Winter DesignDays maintain a constant temp throughout the day.) · Then you could schedule the heating coil OFF for particular hours and see what happens to the zone temps ·
