RE: [EnergyPlus_Support] EnergyPlus new version

This is the expected result from any program file not properly associated with the Windows OS.

If you right click on any program executable or data or application file, and click on the properties, you will see the program that is associated to open the file.

If you want to double the EPlus *.exe file directly to start the simulation, you can set it up to open the EPlaunch or the batch file or to use the DOS command line input.

The correct proceedure for a Window user is to send the EPlaunch to the desktop or start menu as a short cut, and then start from there.

Windows7 may store the short cut on the start menu automatically as the most recently used program.

"C:ENERGY~1/ENERGYPLUS.EXE is not a valid Win32 applicative."  is a message from the DOS screen.
DOS has a 8-char name length limit, and therefore the   C:\energy~1\.

If you are a DOS user, you can continue from here and  issue the DOS command by entering the "Path", fn.IDF , fileName.epw, etc.  (up to 9 parameters may be required.)

There are two batch files in the root directory to help you understand what these parameter are.  By using the EPlaunch, this is done for you by selecting the IDF  and the weather file on the Window interface.  The user directory, etc. are passed automatically by the EPlaunch.

Windows7 64-bit will run the 32-bit version as well.  They should be installed in separate directories, and use two separate short-cut icons.

Subject: [EnergyPlus_Support] EnergyPlus new version

I have just downloded EnergyPlus new version 7.0 and when I open a file to simulate it I receive the following message: C:ENERGY~1/ENERGYPLUS.EXE is not a valid Win32 applicative. Someone could help me with this?

Best regards,

Giovani Dávi
