1) I used excel for this. The VRF model uses the same mathematical models as does many of the DX models in E+. You can use the CurveFitTool.xlsm (...EnergyPlusV7-0-0\PreProcess\HVACCurveFitTool) for the CapFT and EIRFT curves.
2) I have only a handful of manufacturer's data and have not created a data set as yet. Mostly because I am not finding good agreement between manufacturers data and lab data.
