[EnergyPlus_Support] example files

In the easy example file in E+ we have this input data:

Internal Load: None
Space Conditioning
Heating setpoint 20C, Cooling Setpoint 24C, No setback

The idf file attached
So why should we define this options in the idf file?

zone HVAC:equipment list

zone HVACequipment connections  

zone HVAC:Idealloads Air system

 and what is "air purchased" mean?
