[EnergyPlus_Support] utility cost for apartment buildings

I am new to the group. I searched previous postings, but I apologize in advance if I've over looked an answer to my question.

I'm interested in using the economic function of EnergyPlus on an apartment building. Since each unit has separate HVAC, I'd like to create a separate electric "bill" for each unit. Only one building can be modeled at a time, so using the UtilityCost objects in EnergyPlus lumps all the energy into one "bill." Is there a way to use a submeter zone variable for each unit? I made a couple of attempts but did not get expected results. Is there a better approach, or is the only accurate way to model utility "bills" to delete all the other zones in turn and have separate idf files for each apartment unit. Thanks for your input.
