RE: [EnergyPlus_Support] Shallow Roof pond over glazed roof

Not that energy modeling needs to be practical, but your “roof” will likely leak.  No manufacturer warrants a membrane roof that ponds 48 hours after it rains and glazing is a much less reliable waterproofing system…

What about a "work around" possibly using the thickness of the pond water and the specific heat, conductivity and density of water with an adaptive convection coefficient?  On the eQuest modeling forum such "work arounds" are quite common.  Also TRNSYS has a pond and a pool TYPE 230 (designed as a thermal source/sink for a heat pump) as well as a outdoor pool TYPE 344 (designed for either indoor or outdoor pool)  If I where you I would use the "work around" by creating a thermodynamically similar material in e+ rather then attempting to use a TRNSYS type...

Sorry, there is no model for this in EnergyPlus.

Subject: [EnergyPlus_Support] Shallow Roof pond over glazed roof

Hi

May I know if it is possible to simulate the shallow roof pond which sits above the glazed roof? The objective is to find out the total cooling energy consumption of this room with a 'glazed water roof'.

Hope to hear from you soon.

Thank you!

Shan
