Hi there,

I think the way it works is that you set up your complete IDF (i.e including your building, heat balance algorithm, simulation control etc, basically your complete model) along with the GroundHeatTransfer objects. What happens is that when you run your idf, the slab program is called upon and the building surface temperatures are automatically filled into the respective location in the idf. This is if you are trying to invoke the slab program directly using the .idf editor. 

Otherwise you can run the basement slab pre processor separately without defining everything in the .idf file. This way you can get the results for your building surface temperature but then you will have to manually input the results into your idf.
