RE: [EnergyPlus_Support] Re: Mechanical ventilation for passive dwellings

Hi,  here is an advanced hint for accomplishing #2: it is now possible to use EMS and the user-defined component models called Coil:UserDefined and ZoneHVAC:ForcedAir:UserDefined together to model some very imaginative configurations.  The basic air loop limitations still apply to the first zone, but you can model the rest using these custom objects.  The entire energyplus zone model becomes the user defined model for a “coil.”  The user defined coil appears in the AirLoop’s Branch (or outdoor equipment list) and each “coil” represents one of the downstream zones.  The user defined ZoneHVAC unit appears in the zone equipment list and gets connected to other zones by the “coil” connections (modeled on the supply side of the air loop) .  The user ZoneHVAC “units” have both an inlet and an outlet node which get their nodes wired to an associated user coil using EMS programming.  The programming is simple, just directly map node conditions so that the same conditions entering the coil enter the zone, and the same conditions leaving the zone leave the coil.

Thanks for the hints...

A mindset shift towards greener buildings indeed...

Well, I do not plan to build a baloon, zeppelin or other strange things ;)

I already tried to simulate airflow transfer between zones using the AFN and (cross)mixing with success.

The core problem is that the AirLoop requires both an inlet and an outlet for each zone, and we apparently have no way to avoid this setup, or did I miss something?

So, let me rephrase my "quest&
