A cumulative distribution function for data on a regular time step, e.g., hourly weather data, is simply a plot of the data sorted from low to high on the X axis, where the Y axis  is normalized as the cumulative frequency going  from 0 to 1.    I've attached a slide from an old Powerpoint presentation showing some CDFs  from a talk I gave in  2009.
