Re: [EnergyPlus_Support] Node Numbers in wall construction

Here's how Mike answers the question:

Node 1 is the inside face of the surface, and node N is the outside face of the surface. The placement of the other nodes is documented in the Construction CondFD report in the eio output file. It lists the distance for each node and what materials are on either side of the node. To get this report, use
Output:Constructions,Constructions;

The output works for all nodes that are present, see example file CondFD1ZonePurchAirAutoSizeWithPCM.idf. It outputs
ZN001:WALL001 Node #1:CondFD Nodal Temperature[C](Hourly)
ZN001:WALL001 Node #2:CondFD Nodal Temperature[C](Hourly)

Dear all,

Does anyone know a way to visualize the placement of nodes along the cross section of a wall construction.

I have a wall construction that has generated 26 nodes, while the roof construction has 62 nodes. The difference in number is attributed to the different thickness of materials among the two constructions.

Nevertheless, I have read pg.44 of the engineering reference in order to determine the location of the nodes myself but am having difficulty doing so.

So I am wondering if anyone has a better way of determining the position of the nodes along the cross section of the wall. (I am using the Conduction Finite Difference algorithm with a 1 minute timestep)

Sincerely yours'
Niraj
