Re: [EnergyPlus_Support] Inaccurate zone heat balance calculation

You might use the "envelope" HTML report to make sure you have 6 sides, but keep in mind that walls set to surface/zone/adiabatic will not show up in the envelope report, so possibly using the output variable "surface inside face temperature"  this will report all of your walls.
If you do have 6 sides than I would wonder what is causing the warning. The general rule of thumb is that so long as you understand and can explain your warning than it is OK to have the warning, but if you do not know what is causing the warning than it is considered unacceptable-- at least for LEED.. If you do not have 6 sides than the missing surfaces are treated as truly adiabatic, and could be acceptable for some uses.

yes - I do have 6 sides rooms in my model.
So do you think I should not give to much weight to that warning?

Do you have a 6 sided box? I have had this warning when modeling single surfaces and did not think it mattered much.

Dear All,

Could you please help me in understanding what the following warning is about?

** Warning ** GetSurfaceData: The total number of floors, walls, roofs and internal mass surfaces in Zone UP TO FANRM   2NDFL 60
**   ~~~   ** is < 6. This may cause an inaccurate zone heat balance calculation.

As attachment the ERR file

Thank you for your time,

Regards,

JC
