Re: [EnergyPlus_Support] Re: IDFVersion U pdate from 7.2 to 8.0

I can't imagine either -- particularly if you've never had problems before.

One thing you could do is run the program from the command line.

Open a terminal window and put:

Transition-V7-2-0-to-V8-0-0 <filename>

(I don't know if you have to include a .exe or if there is one -- I'm not familiar with the exact configuration of running on a Mac).

it would be better to copy the file into the folder first.

that will produce (I think)

<filename>.idf (this will be the new version, converted
<filename>.idfnew (same as above)
<filename>.idfold (the original file)

Sorry for your inconvenience.

the other thing might be that it (the Report Variables file) is not in unix format, but still in DOS from Windows.

I'll try on my Windows machine on Monday. I assume it works correctly
otherwise you probably would have heard about it. It would be nice if
it worked on Mac, too. I've never previously had trouble with Version
Updater on Mac. I guess it could be something strange about the
particular, but I don't know why that would be the case.

Is there any way you can try it on a windows machine or install

No one that I know of has reported this. And we do perform basic tests
of each installer on the appropriate platform.
