Thanks Jim,
I am playing around with output variables now and still not having a huge amount of luck, but I like this approach you are suggesting. I think it might work. I am going to give it a try. This is more tricky than I was hoping it would be. No real surprises there! Annie

I think this is a post-processing task in which you: · report the building cooling energy transfer for each building using custom meters · also the plant cooling power (Plant cooling power may have several elements and need another custom meter.) · It seems that you can then proportion the power to your buildings based on their fraction of the total energy transfer.

I am using cooling coils and chilled ceilings, I can see a meter variable for cooling coils but it looks like it sums up all the coils and doesn't allow me to look at each one separately.
Maybe I am looking in the wrong place, I could get the sensible cooling for the zone from the variable outputs and then post process that in an excel sheet. Is it be possible to get the variable output of a zone list, rather than individual zones?
is it possible to use output variables in custom meters? and if so, what name would I use? could I use the variable name?
Also one more question, I see the zone system sensible cooling has changed to Zone Air System Sensible Cooling Rate, does this mean that this doesn't take into account radiant cooling energy in the zone?
Thanks again!

I agree that ?energy transfer? is not the proper variable. What equipment are you using for cooling? There should be a variable that corresponds to ?Power? for each of those.

Thanks,
I have been trying this but the only meters available which are not overall total building cooling are "Cooling:EnergyTransfer:Zone:" or "coolingcoils:energytransfer" and energy transfer doesn't correlate with electricity used.
If either of you or anyone else has any other ideas, or can tell me what exactly "energy transfer" is reporting, I would very much appreciated it.
Thanks for the help so far
Annie

p.s., These names changed dramatically in v8 (and I used the v8 names)

Annie, It seems that Custom meters is the solution. Have you tried variables like ?Chiller Electric Power?? ?Pump Electric power??
