[EnergyPlus_Support] Re: Possible non-planar surface warning



Hi Rose,

EneryPlus computations are based on 1 dimensional heat flows. The slab and basement preprocessors are 3D.

Even if one of the vertex in a 4 vertices rectangle is not on the plane to 10 or more, i cannot remember now, decimal places, the warning will be generated

If you open this idf with Legacy OpenStudio in GoogleSketchup, such nonplanar rectangles will be triangulated, with extra lines and even, at times, with extra zones. If you save this idf and open with EnergyPlus again, you will get even more warnings. 

i stick to creating models with EPlus. Good luck
