The simple solar model is well, simple and does not take much inputs, for the one diode and sandea models are more complex, but you can use the databases of inputs that comes with E+. The simple model works well for most situations. How it works, you have a surface that the PV is on, (and can also create shading objects), then connect to a load center and inverter. The simple inverter type seems to work alright as well..
However, if you want to model complex tracking systems or complex incentives I highly recommend you look into System Advisor Model: https://sam.nrel.gov/
It is based on TRNSYS and has great cash flow and finance models built in.
