Aside from the fact that ponding on a roof significantly reduces the service life of a roof, your problem is probably that EnergyPlus does not evaporate water
on the roof. To my knowledge, there are no evaporative cooling mechanisms implemented for building envelope components, with the possible exception of a vegetated roof model. Ned Lyon, P.E. (MA, WV) SIMPSON GUMPERTZ & HEGER

On Behalf Of reza.japalaghi@xxxxxxxxx Hello every one, I'm new user of energyplus. i'm analyzing a roof pond. file number 1 is a zone without roof pond and file number 2 is a zone include roof pond. I want to calculate total heating energy and total cooling energy. in second file I define a roof pond with night insulation, but total cooling energy didn't change as I expect. (it changed a little), can anyone explain me why? __._,_.___ Primary EnergyPlus support is found at: http://energyplus.helpserve.com or send a message to energyplus-support@xxxxxxxx The primary EnergyPlus web site is found at: http://www.energyplus.gov The group web site is: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/EnergyPlus_Support/ Attachments are currently allowed but be mindful that not everyone has a high speed connection.
