I am simulating a primary only hot water plant, I am using a variable speed pump on the supply side. I set my minimum pump flow rate to be 20% of the rated flow rate instead of 0. From the result I can see that even in the situation of demand side has no heating load request, the supply pump is running at its minimum flow rate and all the flow go through the supply side bypass and then demand side bypass, Water keeps being circulated and heated. For the pump control type, I am using "intermittent". Form the I/O manual, the description is that for "intermittent" control, the pump will shut off when there is no load. Not sure if I have done something wrong? Have anyone seen similar behavior?
I know there is a solution to set the pump minimum flow to 0 instead of the 20% of rated flow, but in reality no variable flow pump can run down to 0 flow.
