Re: [EnergyPlus_Support] MinimalShadowing in the baseline

I wish I knew...it is also an ununswered question on my list. As far as I'm concerned, a model that does not shade itself, is flawed. But ASHRAE want to promote clever geometry usage, and because both baseline and proposed design models must be geometrically the same, there's no other way of really crediting this. It would be good to get some feedback on this point. I've always kept the shading models the same in both models (not taking credit) and have never been called up on it.

Anyone else?

According to point 5 of Table G3.1 of ASHRAE 90.1-2007, "The building shall be modeled so that it does not shade itself". In the field "Solar Distribution" of the object Building I select MinimalShadowing.

From the I/O Reference:

In this case, there is no exterior shadowing except from window and door reveals. All beam

solar radiation entering the zone is assumed to fall on the floor, where it is absorbed

according to the floor's solar absorptance.

Do you think it is a correct approach to meet the requirements of ASHRAE 90.1-2007?
