I cannot run version Energy + 8.2 in an old Windows XP machine.(no problems with windos 7)

Version 8.2 Is not compatible with XP?

Read the Getting Started document:

From the Windows button,click on All Programs, scroll down and open EnergyPlusV8-2-0 Programs, click on EnergyPLus Documentation Main Menu:

Then open Getting Started:

To launch the program and utilities, on the EnergyPlusV8-2-0 Programs menu (first image above), click on EP-Launch.
