Once you correct that (I'd suggest unique names associated with the surfaces, such as:
Simple PV South Vertical - pv1
And put them in the Electric Load Generator list, your file should run and produce the .rdd file that will let you select variable names.

Comment out this line or delete it and make a run.
Not sure what you mean by "make a new variable" -- you can do that with EMS but perhaps you should have your basic run going first.
