The Informatics Research Unit for Sustainable Engineering (IRUSE) research group at NUI Galway seeks a highly motivated research engineer with at least 3+ years industry experience and a recognised postgraduate PhD degree or equivalent in an engineering or computer science related discipline. If you have a proven track record in delivering successful projects, a passion for researching and developing solutions to problems as they are encountered, and the communication skills to illustrate technical solutions to non-technical people, then this job is for you. This is a 12 month fixed term, full-time contract position.
IRUSE is a multicultural research cluster performing research on energy efficiency in buildings, leveraging advances in information and communication technologies. IRUSE has a strong collaboration with leading industry and academic institutions around the world. We perform research in the areas of: automated fault detection and diagnosis (FDD) in Heating Ventilation and Air Conditioning (HVAC) systems; whole building and reduced order approaches to energy simulation; HVAC systems integration and optimisation; innovative instrumentation including wireless sensor networks (WSN); and stakeholder-driven visualisation of building performance data.
The successful candidate will work with researchers from UCD, as well as the software development team at ZuTec Ltd in order to develop a lightweight building simulation component based on the ZutTec Emperor data platform.
