Exactly, that is why it is important when changing U-value by changing layers that the layer with the least specific mass (insulation layer) is the only one to adjust (as DesignBuilder does). Good point, Linda.
ÂNote that if you use just U/R values for walls in the definitions for EnergyPlus, you lose the thermal mass effects that the specific thermal properties give.
