Re: [EnergyPlus_Support] Call for IDF Editor Suggestions

Yi,

We addressed the Unix line endings issue, please try the IDF Editor that is being released with EnergyPlus 8.5.

Thanks for your suggestions.

Hi Jason,

It would be great if you can consider the following three. They are relevant to the jEPlus users:

1. Make the IDF editor tolerate Unix line ends ('\n').

2. Provide an option to disable value checks on the input fields. This may be a little complicated to implement, but it will allow users to input search tags (for parametrics) in the fields.

3. Offer an option to choose an alternative epl-run script (sorry, this is EP-Launch, I suppose). In this way user can switch between simulation targets without having to edit the batch file.

Cheers,

Yi

Jim,

That is a good idea, thanks!

Jason,

I hope that you are well!

One thing that I'd love to see is this:

  • It should "remember" the last viewing setup, e.g., full or partial screen, display all objects or in-use objects.  I'm always using Ctrl-L to make the display show only in-use objects and always making the display full-screen.
  • Thanks for asking.

If you use IDF Editor extensively and have ideas on how it
can be made easier to use please let me know. I am
especially interested in ideas on how to reduce
time-consuming repetitive actions that would be simple for
me to program. Here are the current GitHub issues related to
IDF Editor:

Please email me directly and I will compile a list of
suggestions and post a summary.

Thanks

Jason
