Perhaps in newer versions...in the past I would implement a unitary system (which is not a zone equipment, but you could imagine it as such) which can have water or dx cooling + water or dx or electric heating. The catch is you can only have one unit (airloop) per zone, where as with zone equipment there is no limit.

We see many high rise multi-family buildings with 2-pipe fan coils and a backup electric heating coil for shoulder seasons when the system is in cooling mode. Can this type of arrangement be modeled with EnergyPlus?
