Re: [EnergyPlus_Support] Secondary >>> primary Energy + Total Cooling Load

Yes, checked and-- my apologizes for not giving further explanation of how I am assuming the EnvironmentalImpactFactors object to works is that
â??(at least with
the ideal loads object
â??)â??
is to use the conversion
â??factors â??
to determine the Total Site Energy. Below is the pages I found in documentation regarding
â??highlighting what I was basing my assumption on for calculations of â??
Total Site Energy and I am curios how it is calculated if
â??this is applicable for other system typesâ??
and also will run some tests to be sure sometime soon.
â?? Thanks Julienâ??-

None of the above...

Look at the .mdd file and pick something that looks like Electricity:Cooling or something. That will actually be electricity (taking efficiency into account) and can be converted to source.

Dear Julien,
Thanks a lot and one more thing. Which one should be consider as Total Cooling Load/Energy from the following? It creates confusion to me. I calculated
* Zone air system sensible cooling energy
* Cooling coil sensible cooling energy
* Cooling coil Total cooling energy
I used DX cooling coil: single speed.

Yes, that will give you source GJ, then you might want to convert that to kWh for reporting.

The conversation factor unitless so you can also convert to kWh before converting as well.

Dear Julien,
That Means if my Monthly Electricity consumption is 26.33 GJ, I have to multiple with 3.34 (26.33x3.34)for primary source conversion. Please clarify. Thank you.

Hi,

The site to source conversion factor for electricity is highly location dependent, it depends on the way electricity is generated (eg hydro isn't the same as coal) and distributed.
Sure EnergyPlus has a default (3.34 or something) you can use but depending on your needs that might not be accurate enough.

Dear Sagal,

Look at the outputs folder from your file, there is a <your file.html>. I think that one of the first tables presented is a table of factors conversion with what you need.

Dear All,
I have calculated the secondary Cooling Energy (GJ) Electricity consumption for every month. Now I need to convert this energy in to Primary Energy. How I can do it with Energy Plus or if any calculation process please inform.
