Their are no limits as such, but you should understand how the model componants work. Take a look at the solar radiation transmittance of beam and diffuse solar through external and internal glazing. Also consider other convection coefficient algorithms better suited to your space considderations. The defaults may not be best suited.

I am using Energy plus software for the thermal simulation of a room having double skin facade (DSF) in south direction.ÂIn order to determine the temperature of each surfaces of the DSF and more I have considered it as a separate thermal zone. However, the size  (H*L*W) of the thermal zone is only  250*180*1.3 cm. Here 1.3 cm is air cavity thickness.ÂIn the literature thermal zone of size (H*L*W), 20*170*20 cm can found. For example: http://www. sciencedirect.com/science/ article/pii/S0378778814001571The question is upto what minimum zone size the energy plus can simulate accurately?Is there any reference document in this regards?Thank youÂ
