Re: [EnergyPlus_Support] CentralChillerHeaterSystem

Francesco,

I can't check the file (on a phone) but you need to remember this object is connected to three loops: heating and cooling (on supply side typically), and a source loop (ground or other condenser loop typcally on the demand side).
Make sure you're looking at the right nodes. It may be that you're looking at the cooling nodes which would explain why they have the same temperature but there's a heating rate.

Best,
Julien

I’m considering the example file CentralChillerHeaterSystem_Cooling_Heating.idf (available in C:\EnergyPlusV8-7-0\ExampleFiles)

It models a CentralHeatPumpSystem

As you can see in the attached excel file, the BIG CHILLER INLET NODE temperature and the BIG CHILLER OUTLET NODE temperature are the same. Nevertheless, the “Chiller Heater System Cooling Rate” is not 0. I would expect

(outlet temperature - inlet temperature) * dm/dt * c = W

Am I misunderstanding something?

Moreover, I would expect that there is some relationships among the following output:

-          Ground Heat Exchanger Heat Transfer Rate

-          Plant Supply Side Cooling Demand Rate, CHILLED WATER CONDENSER LOOP

-          Plant Supply Side Heating Demand Rate, CHILLED WATER CONDENSER LOOP

But if I consider the output data I’m not able to find the relationship.

Best Regards

Francesco
