Re: [EnergyPlus_Support] Sizing Runs

There are several ways you could accomplish this:
1. Use sizingperiod:weatherfileconditiontype object. I have no experience with this object, but it looks like it reads the weather file and creates extreme conditions used in design. You may have to do testing to find out if this object gives satisfactory results. The other object you mentioned may not be the best choice for sizing because it uses days from the weather file itself, which may not represent extreme conditions.
2. Write enable...disable blocks in the E+ parametric pre-processor with sizing:designday objects for the various weather locations you will be simulating. This requires prior knowledge of the locations.
3. Use many of the other external parametric tools, like Eppy, to do the simulations. This might be useful:

Hi everyone,

Is there a way to set up the .idf to use the weather file given to EP without having the objects Site:Location and SizingPeriod:DesignDay?

I have this question because I want to know if I can set up EP parametric simulations in which I use the same .idf file for different locations and then I only change the weather file provided in each run.

I see some other objects like "Sizing period:weatherFileconditionType" & "Sizing period: WeatherFileDays". Do you think if they are accurate to predict the energy usage? If yes, do I need to create 2 parameters: 1. Extreme Summer Weather Period for Design & 2. Extreme Winter Weather Period for Design.

Thanks,
