[EnergyPlus_Support] EP-Launch, Version 3.0

This is the first release of the full rewrite of EP-Launch. For years, this tool has been developed in Visual Basic, and has been at the heart of so many EnergyPlus users' workflows. The program is now fully redesigned, rewritten in Python, using wxPython for the interface, hosted on Github, and tested and built by Travis and AppVeyor. The documentation for the program is available on ReadTheDocs. Check there for a Quickstart.

Because this is a brand new codebase, there are a few known issues that we didn't get addressed yet, and probably a few unknown ones! The GitHub issues list is kept up-to-date as issues are found and addressed. If you encounter an issue, check there to see if it's already known, and open a ticket if not.

Quick known issues:

  • Windows:
    • The program icons may not initially appear when the program opens. Hovering the mouse over them causes the window to invalidate that region and repaint the icons. Doesn't affect functionality at all.
  • Mac/Linux:
    • The transition workflow that is packaged with EnergyPlus 9.0 does not run properly on Mac or Linux. We are planning on correcting those files and uploading them alongside the releases here on this page so that users are free to download the corrected ones and drop them into their existing E+ installations.
  • Mac:
    • The workflow dropdown shown in the documentation isn't properly displayed in the menu, so the user must simply select the workflow from the global app menu, under "Workflows"
  • Linux:
    • The theme icons are not loaded properly, so the tool is a bit difficult to use. This is being investigated, and should be addressed soon.

Thank you for your interest and usage of this tool. It is exciting (and nerve-racking) to see a brand new codebase like this finally be going out as an official release.
