[EnergyPlus_Support] Free Webinar: Simulation-driven design using optimisation

DesignBuilder will be presenting a case study on 6th February to show how the power of multi-objective optimisation and parametric modelling were used as part of a simulation-driven design process. Optimisation tools can really help to reduce both the capital and environmental cost of construction, helping you to deliver buildings that cost less to build, are more sustainable in terms of their embodied and operational energy, and that are more comfortable and healthy places for occupants to work and live. This case study will provide a clear example of that.

The free webinar will showcase a design optimisation project that was shortlisted for an award in the recent CIBSE Building Simulation Group’s annual competition. Arturo Ordóñez of Sol-Arq will explain how he used DesignBuilder's optimisation tools to minimise the energy consumption and construction cost whilst maximising the use of healthy materials in an eco-friendly house project in Spain. A simulation-driven design process was used, starting with optimization at the very beginning of the project, followed by more specific detailed and parametric analysis to inform the architectural design. All this helped Sol-Arq to reduce construction cost by 31% and CO2 emissions by 41%.
