[Equest-users] FW: eQUEST Examples

David,
Where there are two systems serving a single zone, see if you can model
the zone as two separate zones. For example, something I have done to
handle a spot cooler in a hot room is to create a "dummy" room of
negligible floor area that has only the sensible cooling load (computers
or whatever) and nothing else. Perhaps you could make it a tiny interior
corner of the "real" room. Then I assign this "dummy" room to the spot
cooler. The "real" room has all the other loads (envelope exposure,
people, etc.) and is on the main air system. I keep the thermostat
settings the same in both. This approach works well if you can easily
separate loads within the room.

How much money do you have??
(Just kidding).
The forum here is about the best you can get to asking for specific
examples. The old DOE-2.1E used to have Sample Runs, but I am unaware
that eQuest has carried on the tradition.
The eQuest manuals generally describe how to do certain keywords for
certain systems. The eQuest Vol. 3 (Tpoics) reviews the various SYSTEM
types you can use, and applicable keywords allowed, including templates
of .INP input screens.
I am unaware that one could include spot cooling into another SYSTEM.
Cardinal rule -ONE SYSTEM TYPE per ZONE. You COULD split the zone into
two zones.
Keep asking. When the experts (certainly above me) have time, they seem
to be most gracious in sharing their knowledge. I enjoy reading the
various problems and solution suggestions offered within the Forum.
I would say all the "heavy hitters' tune in here.
Welcome, and give eQuest a chance. I feel it's the best thing going
currently in energy modeling (this said after 30+ years of doing
this..).

Subject: [Equest-users] eQUEST Examples
I just started using eQUEST. And, I am having difficulty in finding
examples of implementing special cases or general cases for that matter.
For example, I would like to see an example of spot cooling inside a
larger,
hot room? Is there a manual or reference available that shows how to do
this and other case specific applications?
Regards,
David Knifton, P.E.
