[Equest-users] u factors with NFRC certification or u factors according to european norms

Berke,

U-values calculated according to ISO/EN 10077 and EN673 (for center of glass) use European boundary conditions which are 0 degrees C exterior and 20 degrees C interior. NFRC requires -18C and 21C therefore u-value results will be different.

Subject: [Equest-users] u factors with NFRC certification or u factors according to european norms

Just a small question. I have glazing with its frame which you can see as an attachment. You can see the overall u factor ( glazing+frame) at the pdf file. But as you can understand it has certified and calculated according to the European norms. (The thermal transmission coefficients were figured for insertion elements and windows (Uw) according to EN 10077-1:2006 and for curtain wall (Ucw) in compliance with EN 13947:2006.) I mean our fenestration with u factors, SHGC or visible light transmittance did not determine, certify and label in accordance with NFRC 100, 200, and 300. But we have European norm certifications. In that case I will not allowed to use the u factor value in the pdf ( which is 1,81 W/m2.K) for the NFRC u factor value of the building simulation software (e quest). ?? Is that correct?

In this condition, do I have to use the figures mentioned in table A8.1A/B, table A8.2 for the proposed design ?? It means my windows are not certified or labeled and I will use worse u factors for the simulation but they are produced according to the European norms and we can see these information from the manufacturer specification. I have checked CIR section of the LEED online and I have seen a similar problem happened for the Japan norms.(fenestration has certified according to the Japan standards and LEED accepted that case)
Comments ????
