[Equest-users] Aircraft Hanger Modeling

I don't have a lot of experience with Natural Ventilation but it seems
to be dependent on the thermal conditions in the zone. You can specify
"open" for an hour but if natural ventilation doesn't hold the zone
thermostat setpoint, "program reverts to mechanical cooling" as stated
in the help file. Whether this means the Natural Ventilation is then
closed, I don't know. Basically, Natural Ventilation may work in this
case but I would make sure the natural ventilation is operating how you
would like the hangar doors to be simulated with hourly reports. It
seems to me though that specifying Internal Load Infiltration would be a
better option since the hangar doors are not controlled or open/closed
based on thermal conditions in the zone.

Thanks,

Have you looked into using the natural ventilation option with either
air change or sherman-grimsrud method?

Switch to Detailed Mode > Air-Side HVAC > Outside Air > Natural
Ventilation

If you go to the hangar space properties under Internal Loads and the
Infiltration tab, you can apply an hourly schedule there. Below is a
screen shot of the infiltration tab and the help file for the Schedule.
I believe this has to be done in detailed mode, not wizard mode. Let me
know if you want to see an example schedule or something.

Matthew,

using the infiltration could be the way to go, I know that it is
possible to create a parametric run for infiltration but is it possible
to put it on a schedule?

thank you

Just a thought, but could you treat it as infiltration. Under Internal
Loads, specify a high infiltration rate and create an infiltration
schedule based on hangar doors opening and closing at different times
during the day. If anyone has any other ideas, please share.

Hello all-

I'm modeling an aircraft hanger and I'm not sure how to model hanger
doors being opened and closed at different times per day.
