Cooling type of “packaged” VAV in eQuest is DX, and VAVS are chilled water. But it is not the case in 90.1 baseline which cooling type of package VAV with Reheat could be either DX (system 5) or ChW (system 7). So be careful of cooling type when you change to PIU. PIU is the only system I know that you can change cooling type.

I’ve always had to use the “Powered Induction Unit” system to allow me to have PFP boxes at a zone level. Maybe there are other systems that allow it?

Subject: [Equest-users] VAV w PFP boxes
Where in detailed mode can I control the parallel fan-powered boxes in my packaged VAV system (specifically W/cfm, % of peak design flow, and minimum volume)? Current system type is ‘pkgd var vol.’ Is that the right system type for pfp boxes?
Thank you,
