[Equest-users] Will the Gap between shells affect simulation data?

Hi Daniel,

I think we may be leaping a language hurdle here - no worries! =)

If you utilize the DD wizards, eQuest will by default treat any quantity of shells as a single building, in the sense of metering and reports.

You have the option of separately metering or turning these shells into separate projects later, if you wish to.

Does that help?

Hello Nick,

When I mean separately modeled, I mean that eQUEST will consider them as two separate buildings instead of a single building.

Hi Daniel,eQuest can model the two shells as distinctly or indistinctly as you wish to define them.

By default, multiple shells will each draw from the same electrical/gas meters so it would take extra effort for you to separately meter them. You can choose to have them both conditioned by the same or separate mechanical systems out of the wizards. They could use identical or distinct scheduling... it all depends on what you are trying to achieve.

The mailing list can advise you more specifically if you need help but you'll need to better define what you mean by "separately modeled."

Best of luck,

~Nick

Hello everybody,

I have made a building model composed of two shells that are touching each other at a side, similar to a lock and key. One shell is a two story office space. The other shell is a single-floor manufacturing space with a floor-to-ceiling height equal to the height of the office shell.

Will eQuest treat these 2 shells as if they are 2 separate buildings or as if they are one big building? The project calls for the entire assembly to be modeled as a single building so this is important.
