[Equest-users] is there a way back from this error?

Thanks everyone for your input, I really appreciate your feedback on the matter!
Problem is solved (for now at least).

Best,
Nikola

Ps. As a token of appreciation, here is warm regard from sunny San Francisco if you haven't seen it so far.
I know we all love hybrids, electric cars, etc.....but this video is different World, kind of refreshed my memories a bit from the '90s!

Nikola,

You have a lot of "Custom zone xx" polygons in your pd2 file, that I have found have given me this message in the past. Try deleting the one that starts at line 1172 (I'm not sure if the line numbers correlate with the line number in the VTK window.)

Shaun

FWIW, I've observed the same error on smallish models with detailed geometry edits. I don't think the error is size-dependant (though size may be a contributing factor to the difficulties in getting the 3D views to play nicely). I know the same error comes up from wizard-borne pitched roof inputs on occasion.

I have the same sense as others of this being generally erroneous if no other errors or warnings occur on loading/simulation (I'd certainly double-check for my own model). My theory is the error is specifically getting at a difficulty in rendering the 3D view - which is to say there is zero effect in regards to the actual simulation/results. In other cases, I've observed models with this "triangulation" error partially render the 3D view, with some surfaces not being drawn at all, but still existing in the component tree with all appropriate ties.

Oh and here's a related post from Mr. Criswell some time ago for further reassurance: http://www.gard.com/ml/bldg-sim-archive/msg04131.html

Hi Sami,

Yes, large model with lots of custom polygons......the message is gone, project loads but I still can't view the 3-D, I see the shells only in 2-D.
*I got several responses from various users on the camera reset, latest being from Josh Greenfield that I'm pasting it below, since interesting thing-Josh can see the 3-D pix from the zip file I sent, but I can't.....go figure?!?

Anything else I can try on my end?
It's weird that Umesh and Josh can see the 3-D from model I sent and I'm not able to.

Best,
N

The file took a long time to open for me, but the 3D came right up...

...maybe try saving the .PD2/.BDL/.INP in a new folder with just those 3 files and try opening.

Josh,
Found your posting below on the 3-D fun in equest, but didn't work. Anything else you can add before I go back and try to recreate?
Model runs/loads but I still can't see the 3-D in equest-it's not even an option.
Thx,
Nikola

If any of the values in there are HUGE (probably with exponents) then
just change them to zero...save...re-open eQuest. These values are just
used by the eQuest camera so you're not changing any shell positions or
anything.

Nikola,

Don't worry about it - I've had that message come up before. It didn't affect anything - it was a pretty large model with a number of custom polygons - is that what you have too?

Hi,
I get the following error multiple times when trying to finish a retirement center with multiple bld's, shells and units....equest runs a long time.
Is there a way to fix it or I go back to my previous files to retrieve left over info? The 3D is not generating looks like adding last bld's did it...
Thanks,
Nikola
