[Equest-users] Weather Data Files

Keep in mind that the .bin files wont compile correctly unless the text file is correctly formatted. In the TMY2 documentation they have a listing of what variable goes in which column and what units it is expecting. When I say column, it’s not in an excel sense but in the sense that each character is a column. Also, look for a text editor that can edit the files vertically and it will make your life a lot easier. When I tried it I found a program called ultraedit and used the trial period to make my file. I’m sure there are others that have similar capabilities. I’ll attach a past weather file that I had made so you can see the finished product.

Does anyone have an example of a CSV real time weather file that they converted to BIN format for eQuest? Thank you everyone for all the help thus far!

Christina, you will have to reformat the CSV to the text file format required to convert from text to .BIN using the equest weather processor.

I use an Excel workbook. One sheet has the raw CSV data and another sheet converts it to Imperial and formats to the text format required by equest.

Thanks! Is this for CSV files are real time? Will the units be correct? The files that I got were in Celsius and the eQuest files need to be in fahrenheit.

Instructions for converting EnergyPlus ".epw" files (".csv" format) to DOE2 ".bin" files. Go to http://bepan.info/weather and open 1 - Convert Energy-Plus.EPW to DOE2.BIN<http://bepan.info/yahoo_site_admin/assets/docs/1_-Convert_Energy-PlusEPW_to_DOE2BIN.138130152.pdf> or http://doe2.com/index_Wth.html#eQ_WthProc
