[Equest-users] VAV System - high cooling energy in winter

Looks like a classic reheating operation to me. Air hits cooling coil first (51 F), then reheated to 58. Why are you not allowing the cooling coil temp to back off?

I ran a report to look at the supply air temps from the AHU’s and here is what I have in the first hour of the year:

From this, it looks like the air is being cooled down to 51F then heated back up to 59F.  Anyone have any ideas as to why this might be happening?  I can’t seem to figure this out.

Have you tried resetting chilled and hot water temperatures? Also, how much of your load is outside air?

You have the cooling control set at constant – do you know if the existing building has a sequence of operation to follow?

For a recent  new building which had a VAV air handler with a chilled water coil (water delivered from an aquifer in this case, VFD drives, etc.) I used the below parameters, which appear to have a large effect on your model.

Hi,

I’m trying to model an existing building with a chilled water VAV system.  The chilled water usage is much higher in the winter time than expected.  Is this a common issue?  Does anyone have any suggestions for fixing this?  My files are attached.
