Modeling Boiler Plant

Matthew,

You can add the load of the second building on the HW loop similar to the process load (snow melt) I have illustrated below. The difficult part will be separating out the load of the elementary school from the rest of the campus. Ideally, the elementary school would have its own flow meter and HW temperature sensor installed and trended for at least a year. This would allow you to calculate the load and create an appropriate schedule.

Subject: Modeling Boiler Plant

HI,
I am modeling a school building that houses a central boiler plant that serves an elementary school on the same campus. The scope of the project is to only model the building housing the boiler plant. We are going for several NYSERDA incentives and I'm being told they would like to see the savings compared to the existing building utility info. Is there a way to model an artificial load on the boiler loop to represent the second building? Any suggestions or ideas would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Matthew J. Baron, PE
