[Equest-users] 2 story building layout and zoning

Hello Claire

You may also rethink why you have so many zones. Unless there are different conditions in each zone and/or different thermostat settings, and you are not simulating particular zone/system combinations there is no need for so many zones in the early design stage.

Claire,

Your description of the 3D rendering and the duplicate vertices makes me think that your top shell coordinates are incorrectly defined.
Within the DD Wizard you can "Specify Exact Site Coordinates" and set the top shell's Z value to be equal to the height of the bottom shell. Also remember to only place the roof on the top shell -- this may address the "DbgPitchedRoof error" you mention.

Depending on your experience with eQuest these may be overly simplistic suggestions but it's my best guess from your description.

Godspeed,

Matt Hein

Subject: [Equest-users] 2 story building layout and zoning

Hello everyone,

I am modeling a 2 story higher education building with 60 zones. 29 on the first floor and 31 on the second floor. The floors have different zoning variations, but the same shell layout for both floors.

I am receiving an error message that I have a duplicate vertices in EL2 Space Polygon 24 (so I get a DbgPitchedRoof error) AND when I put the building layout into 3-D mode, the 2 levels are set up beside each other instead of on top of each other.

I believe I have the correct vertices in for where the building should be laid out, but could be wrong.

Can anyone see what I’m doing wrong?

Thanks,
