[Equest-users] Shell with only part of the roof exposed

Yep!



Although this isn’t really terrible from the eQuest interface either:

-          Highlight the roof surface of interest in 3d view

-          Right click the parent space in the component tree and create
new a interior wall from the context menu

-          Give it a name if you like & choose “from scratch”

-          Location = “Top” (this will default to the associated space
polygon), Construction = the appropriate roof construction

-          Choose anything for the “next to…” prompt, it doesn’t matter
when you…

-          … then set the new surface to be adiabatic in the surface
properties dialog



When done, delete the offending exterior roof surface, unless you want to
keep it around to trim to an actual exposed area.



Worth noting: in lieu of adiabatic, it’s just one extra step (seconds
really) to check before starting, and actually create a thermal link to the
appropriate space using the “next to” dialog.  If you do that you can leave
the interior surface as the default type “standard.”

Still the same for 3-65.



Best and fastest way to change from external to internal surface type is
still with a text editor working directly in the .inp file.

Hi Equest Experts:



As I recall from before, even if a roof has another shell immediately above
and touching, the lower (covered) roof was still regarded as exterior and
exposed to the elements. Is that still the same with v3-65?



It would be great to be able to change a roof property from an external
construction type to an adiabatic surface? I cannot figure that one out.
Any thoughts?
