You can just delete the .pdl file.  I have seen this as well, a .pdl grows
"crazy-large" and the model behaves erratically.  Simply deleting the file
-- which is a log of changes to the model which candidly, I have not used,
has got my files working again.

usually these are 100-800 kb!!
