Strongly related to our location in South Florida this School focuses on place responsive design. We are critically aware of the natural, human and technological challenges posed to sub-tropical regions including climate change, sea-level rise, population migration, and healthy aging.

To address these challenges we seek an individual with teaching, research, and service experience in the area of sustainability encompassing close integration of health and social issues with architecture and urban design, and a focus on any of the following areas: regional historical resources of architecture of the recent past, urban and regional design, or environmental studies.

Above all, we seek candidates with a passion for architecture and teaching, who have an interest in working across disciplines to take advantage of our position within our academic home, the College for Design and Social Inquiry. This College is unique in the country for its combination of professional schools – Architecture, Social Work, Urban and Regional Planning, Public Administration and Criminology and Criminal Justice, all of which offer possibilities for contributing to the University mission and goals. The School of Architecture is home to the Broward Design Collaborative which works closely with municipal, regional, and state organizations through funded action-research.

A professional Master of Architecture with licensure in a United States jurisdiction is required as well as demonstrated ability to constructively work in an environment of human and intellectual diversity. An earned

Ph. D. or doctorate in architecture or an allied field is preferred. Candidates should demonstrate national and international distinction in architectural education, scholarship, or professional practice that merits appointment with continuous tenure.

The School of Architecture offers a fully NAAB accredited five year Bachelor of Architecture first professional degree program. Plans are currently under way to expand our existing STEM program to offer a Master of Science degree in Architecture which will offer focused research opportunities to the candidate.
